A very special Mother’s Day + Holland’s baby dedication

This Mother’s Day weekend was extra special because it marks one year ago when we found out we were pregnant with our third baby! And, this Sunday on Mother’s Day, we celebrated Holland’s baby dedication!

I hope all you mama’s had a very special Mother’s Day and a beautiful weekend.

Every Mother’s Day is special to me. I mean I still pinch myself that I am a mom! Sometimes it is so surreal for me to think I am a mom and one to three girls!

So, a little backstory from last Mother’s Day went like this. I left for a girl’s weekend with a couple of amazing girlfriends of mine and it was totally epic! We squeezed in everything from shopping to painting the small town of Flagstaff to staying up late laughing like a couple of teenagers! It was everything this mama needed and more!

When I got home I told my hubby, Kevin, “I had a great time, except for all the menstrual cramps and nothing to show for it! Then he says, “just take a test!” Mind you, it was 10:00 at night, the day before Mother’s Day. Well, to my surprise, there it was, two pink lines just as bright and perky as ever too! I just knew it was real and yes I did take one more test the next day, but I knew God was answering my prayers and giving me the desire of my heart to have another baby.

Finding out I was pregnant again the day before Mother’s Day felt like God gave me a gift wrapped up in a great big bow! I will always treasure this and God’s perfect timing.

All three of our girls have been dedicated to the Lord now. In case you are wondering, a baby dedication is not a baptism or a christening, but instead, it is a public proclamation to commit to raising your child (Holland) in the instruction and admonition of the Lord.

“Train up a child in the way he should go, and when he is old he will not depart from it.” –Proverbs 22:6

“And fathers do not provoke your children to anger, but bring them up in discipline and instruction of the Lord.” –Ephesians 6:4

“And they were bringing children to Him so that He might touch them, and the disciples rebuked them. But when Jesus saw this, He was indignant and said to them, Permit the children to come to Me; do not hinder them; for the kingdom of God belongs to such as these.” –Mark 10:13-14

Kevin and I did attend a brief meeting at our church prior to Holland’s dedication and it was a good reminder of what it means to dedicate your child to the Lord. I like all the reminders I can get because I need them and it keeps me humble. Also, we were introduced to an awesome book, Grace Based Parenting by Dr. Tim Kimmel. I have only skimmed the surface of this book, but really look forward to reading it over the summer!

Our Pastor is the best, we love him, but he is an ASU grad and we are always like NO! My hubby is from Tucson so naturally, he will always be U of A proud and Kevin thought it would be the perfect time to razz him too, lol! You can see in this video Holland is wearing a U of A headband and daddy was enjoying every minute of teasing our Pastor too!

Kevin and I pray often that we will be great examples for our three girls and where we fall short we know God will do the rest!

The rest of the day was really beautiful and I wish I had more pictures to show for it, but it was windy and the girls were just not having it as you can tell! Oh well, such is life and as our Luci would say, “you get what you get and you don’t throw a fit!”
