Holland turns 6 months + Nuby feeding review

Holland is six months old! I can’t believe she is half way to one already!

I really hope I can get through this post without crying. Writing this is emotional for me, so please bear with me.

Holland turned six months on the first of July and I could tell from her cues (grabbing for food and watching me eat) she was ready. So, I did something I never did with my other two daughters and gave Holland her first bite three days shy of six months. I was ok with this at first, but I didn’t prepare for it emotionally.

Maybe, I am a little bit more emotional because I jumped the gun by a few days or maybe it is just because I feel like she is growing too fast! I never really shared this here before, but Holland was a colicky baby at just two weeks after birth to about four months old. In some ways, I feel robbed of her newborn stage because this was so hard for so long for her and for us.

Even though I am emotional and I wish time could just stand still a little longer, I am so proud of our little Holland and how much she is growing and developing. When it comes to starting first foods I have always started with rice cereal and fruit. I am still breastfeeding so I mix breast milk into her morning cereal. So far, so good! She got her first bites of applesauce and really loves that too.

There are so many feeding products on the market and as a third-time mom, I can decipher between products that work verse ones that don’t.

I turned to Nuby because they have a great line of affordable feeding products and Nuby is easy to find in most stores too.

For Holland’s first bite of applesauce, we went with this self-feeding EZ Squee-z dispenser. Honestly, this product right here is one of the reasons I jumped the gun because I knew she would enjoy feeding herself. As you can see, looks like I was right. She is enjoying feeding herself her cereal! This is a great product because it mimics a bottle and it teaches a baby to self-feed and so great to pack and go too.

After offering her cereal this way, I decided to spoon feed her applesauce and she seemed a lot happier this way. She’s a funny one sometimes! This brings me to my second favorite Nuby product and it is this pack of spoons. I know, spoons, right? Well, after using those metal and hard plastic ones on two babies you learn your lesson haha! This cute pack of spoons is the best because they are soft, flexible, and perfect for baby’s gums. We are still waiting for that first tooth to appear too!

Nuby sent me two other awesome products that I can’t wait to try when Holland matures a bit more.

When I saw this 360 degree, spill proof cup, my jaw dropped like literally! This is huge because almost every sippy cup and trainer cup on the planet claims to be spill proof! Well, guess what? We tried it out and it’s spill proof! This will make a perfect first sippy cup when Holland is ready. Also, note everything comes apart nicely to make cleaning a cinch too! No wonder they call it the Wonder cup!

Last but not least, the silicone Miracle Mat will be great when she starts eating more solid food. I love the size of this one too. It fits perfectly on our IKEA highchair tray and it sticks fairly well too.

Nuby is BPA free and uses 100% silicone and everything mentioned is dishwasher safe. You can find most of these products at Target, Walmart, and Babies R’ Us too.

Thank you, Nuby, for sponsoring this post and allowing me to hand select all of these products for review.

As always, all opinions are honest and 100% my own.

xx, Nicole
