Flower family hawaiian vacation: Part 1

Family vacation part one…

We are on our first Hawaiian family vacation! My husband and I have had the pleasure of visiting the islands several times, but this is the first time we are vacationing as a family. If you have never been to Hawaii please add to your list of destinations to visit.

The Hawaiian Islands are a true gem and a lovely paradise to discover. One of my favorite things about going to Hawaii is the true sense of being on vacation. I love packing light because you don’t need much more than a bathing suit and sunscreen! I will be honest packing for a family of four almost five is not exactly light, but can be accomplished. All of our bags made it on the plane woot, woot!

Helpful TIP: Pack light!

We like to rent because it is affordable making it easier to stay longer. Another great thing about renting is you have access to a kitchen and laundry usually. Hawaii is a very tropical climate and can be very wet and humid, so I really love being able to dry towels and bathing suits. Having a kitchen is really helpful and saves money too. I like to pack everything from breakfast bars, to kids fruit squeezes, goldfish, peanut butter on the go and small boxes of cereal. Groceries are more expensive in Hawaii than on the mainland so I like to bring as many snacks as I can! Plus you know kids and their snacks!

Helpful TIP: Consider renting and packing dry food.

This is not the girl’s first flight, but it is their first long flight. Flying from Phoenix to Honolulu is about 6 hours. Honestly they did great and daddy was so smart booking our seats close to the bathrooms. Yay for this pregnant mama and for two little girls! We also set them up with coloring pages, Lego sets, summer learning packs and movies to watch.

Helpful TIP: Pack your kids backpacks with fun activities.

I will be back with the second part of this post when we get back from our trip! Stay tuned and you can follow along on IG too.
